Turkey Point, Port Dover & Norfolk County area guide
Planning a cottage stay on Lake Erie's Golden Coast? Here's what's close to our Turkey Point cottage rentals: the beach, Turkey Point Provincial Park, Port Dover, St. Williams and Norfolk County's wineries and breweries.
Turkey Point
Turkey Point is a small lakeside village in Norfolk County on the north shore of Lake Erie, overlooking Long Point Bay. Its roughly two-kilometre sandy beach is long and shallow with sand bars, making it one of the most family-friendly beaches on the lake.
Turkey Point Provincial Park (established 1959) sits on the bluffs above the village with treed campsites and three hiking trails. Ontario Parks notes that a marina, restaurants, zip lining and a winery are all within about two kilometres of the park.
In the village you will find restaurants, a small grocery store and an LCBO — all within walking distance of our cottages, which sit across the road from the beach.
Port Dover
Port Dover is a lakeside town about 22 km (20–25 minutes) east of Turkey Point. Its pier is a favourite spot for anglers and sunset walks, watching the fishing tugs come in, and the town has a sandy beach, harbour marina and charter tours.
Port Dover is famous for its Friday the 13th motorcycle rally, held on every Friday the 13th since 1981. Expect road closures and big crowds on rally days.
St. Williams & Long Point Eco-Adventures
Just west of Turkey Point on Front Road, St. Williams is home to Long Point Eco-Adventures, which offers zipline canopy tours, stargazing and Wishbone Brewery at the Marsh, plus the Burning Kiln and Inasphere wineries.
Birders head to Birds Canada's Long Point Bird Observatory at Old Cut, where banding demonstrations run during spring and fall migration, weather permitting.
Norfolk County wineries & breweries
Norfolk County, part of Ontario's South Coast, has a growing wine and craft-beer scene shaped by sandy soils and the lake. Wineries include Burning Kiln Winery, set on a former tobacco farm, and Inasphere Wines in St. Williams with views of Long Point Bay.
For beer, Ramblin' Road Brewery Farm in La Salette is one of the county's best-known breweries. Guided winery tours are also available if you'd rather not drive.
